I was too sweat, then.. Revenge is sweet

When KLM broke my Jingdezhen flower vase during a flight from London to Amsterdam, after all negotiations I had with KLM, I received only 1/3 of　the value back, saying that was the maximum of compensation,,,,,
Reading the following episode, I found I was too sweat,,,,

An American musician named Dave Carroll had difficulty with United Airlines last year when United allegedly damaged his treasured Taylor guitar (worth $3500) during a flight.

Dave spent more than 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor.

During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, Dave stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for Youtube exposing their lack of cooperation.

The Manager responded : "Good luck with that one, pal."

So Dave went ahead and posted his video on Youtube. The video has since received over seven million hits.

United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal"."

Taylor Guitars subsequently sent the musician two new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

伝統と革新

なんて、大げさなタイトルをつける必要はさらさらないのですけど、この前の日記にはなあかりさんがコメントをつけてきてくださいました。
それではなあかりさんの日記へ飛んでみたら、クリスマスのしつらえの日記が最新でした。

クリスマスツリーの紹介のほかに、クリスマスの料理。
そこには日本のお寿司なども盛られていて、イギリスのクリスマス料理とはかなり違うものなのですけど、
写真を拝見していて、イギリスのクリスマスの伝統というものがベースにきちんとあるということがなんとなく伝わってくる。
伝統を重んじるヨーロッパとはいいながら、仕事で回るのは都市が多いし、仕事相手も若い人、特にアーティストで革新的な精神の持ち主（?）との交流が多く、そんな家庭しか知らないので、テレビなどで伝統の中に生活している人たちなんてのが出てきても、「はぁ、、、」って感じしか受けなかったけど、でもヨーロッパの文化の中には伝統が重く息吹いている部分が確かにあるのですね。
それを知らなければヨーロッパは理解できない。

Mixiのお仲間でも、最初のころの人たちはどういうわけか茶道をやられる方が多かったのです。ですから、伝統的なものについての話が飛び交っていましたけど、最近増えてきたいすみ市関連の方々もまた、町の習慣、伝統について、嬉々として話をしておられる。
日本、そしてヨーロッパの都市部の若い人たちの、伝統離れなんてのを見ていると、伝統なんて博物館や資料館の中にしか見られなくなるのじゃないかとさえ思えるようなのだけど、意外にも根強く残っているんですね。
商業的に残されている伝統、文化は別にして、地域に、家庭の中にしっかりと根を下ろしている伝統や、それを守っている人々の気持ちってなんとなく嬉しくって。

去年の暮れには、横浜を閉めましたので、引越しの騒動で、今年のお正月は何も出来ませんでした。
お屠蘇は用意したけど、屠蘇器はどこに行ったか分からなくって、結局発掘できなかった。ちょっと外に出れば椿の葉っぱはいくらでもあるし、こぶも、するめも、もちろん塩もあるから、屠蘇の肴も５分もあれば用意できたのに、しなかった。
師匠に、お節をお願いしたのだけど、二つ三つは自分でも造ろうと思っていたのも無理。
なにより、掃除が出来なかった。
お正月からは風邪っぽくって、結局、今年は雑煮食べなかったし、お餅も食べてない。
ほんとうは、すこしでも、自分なりの、自分のうちのお正月の用意をするべきだったなって、はやくも今年の後悔、第一号ということですわ。

あるべきものがないって気がつくのは、どうも気持ちの収まりが悪くって。
もちろん、その方が簡便って言うのも分かるけど、それに慣れたくないな～
