The other day's NHK rebroadcast "Bura Tamori" was in Nagaoka. very interesting and i learned a lot
I have been to Nagaoka on a business trip only once during my active career.
For me, when I think of Nagaoka, I have the image of Mr. Kakuei Tanaka and Mr. Isoroku Yamamoto.
(It is also the birthplace of Enryo Inoue, the founder of Toyo University.)
While watching Bra Tamori this time, I also remembered Jiro Osaragi's "Emperor's Century" (Tsugunosuke Kawai)
So I'll post my notes below.
----------
Nagaoka Station is built on the ruins of Nagaoka Castle. Such castles are rare.
Nagaoka is a shipping town.
Shinano River is the longest river in Japan (367km).
Continuous hills.
several types of stones.
wood, miso.
The symbol of Nagaoka City is a phoenix.
Fireworks town.
The area was burnt to the ground during the Great Fire and Boshin War at the end of the Edo period. Overcome it and rebuild.
Pilgrimage of Emperor Meiji and his party.
Maintenance of towns and roads.
Start of fireworks display.
A red light district at a shrine.
Ship transport declined due to the development of Meiji logistics.
Oil brought enormous wealth to Nagaoka and became a major industry.
Get rich with oil money.
Many oil companies will sponsor the fireworks display.
The relationship between the Shinano River and oil.
The deep relationship between water and oil
In the deep sea, a huge amount of dead plankton accumulated.
Nagaoka was burnt to the ground during the war🪖
Comrade's Requiem.
There was also a big earthquake.
Nagaoka, which has been revived each time, is truly a phoenix.
