Smoking area watching

This is the smoking area at Karaoke🎤Manekineko Yokohama West Exit Store No. 3.

Compared to other stores, it was about twice as spacious and quite comfortable.

Another smoking area in a nearby restaurant, Anraku-tei. It was well cleaned and maintained.

The smoking area at the Red Brick Warehouse was dedicated to heated cigarettes. We are seeing this kind of movement all over the place!

昨日（2025.1.28）、がんで闘病中だった経済アナリストの森永卓郎さんが、原発不明がんのため自宅でご逝去されました（享年67歳）。心からお悔やみ申し上げます。【合掌】

彼は、東京大学経済学部を卒業後の1980年4月に日本専売公社（1985年からJT）に入社しました。その後、経済企画庁への出向、三和総合研究所に移籍、獨協大学経済学部教授、テレビコメンテーターとしてもご活躍されました。

また、ヘビースモーカーとしても知られ、2010年のたばこ税増税の際には、定価改定前に110カートンを買いだめし、1箱1000円になったとしても「一生分を買い込んで冷凍保存する」と言い話題になりました。

私が新幹線通勤をしていたとき、森永さんが1人でホームの喫煙所に立ち、たばこを吸っている姿を見て「いい機会なので同じ愛煙家として話しかけてみよう」と思いましたが、目が合った瞬間、彼の目力に圧倒されそのままスルーしてしまいました。

今思えば、とても残念な想いが残ります。

Yesterday（2025.1.28）, economic analyst Takuro Morinaga, who had been fighting cancer, passed away at his home from cancer of unknown origin (aged 67). We offer our heartfelt condolences. [Rest in peace]

After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo, he joined the Japan Tobacco and Salt Public Corporation (JT from 1985) in April 1980. He was then seconded to the Economic Planning Agency, transferred to Sanwa Research Institute, and became a professor at the Faculty of Economics at Dokkyo University and a TV commentator.

He was also known as a heavy smoker, and when the tobacco tax was increased in 2010, he stocked up on 110 cartons before the price revision, and even if the price went down to 1,000 yen per pack, he said, "I'll buy a lifetime supply and freeze it."

When I was commuting by Shinkansen, I saw Morinaga standing alone at the smoking area on the platform smoking a cigarette, and I thought, "This is a good opportunity to talk to him as a fellow smoker," but the moment our eyes met, I was overwhelmed by the power of his gaze and just ignored him.

Thinking about it now, I am left with very sad feelings.

私の愛してやまないJTのメビウスOneに新製品が出たというので、さっそくコンビニで買ってみました

「しっかり、うまい」「強・1mg」と銘打っていますが、正直なところ私には実感できませんでした

メビウスEシリーズ（500円）に比べ580円なので、年金生活者としては、JTさんの商品開発の努力に敬意を表しつつ、これまでどおりのEシリーズで良いと思いました

I heard that a new product has been released for my beloved JT MEVIUS One, so I immediately bought one at a convenience store.

It is advertised as "strong and delicious" and "strong 1mg", but to be honest, I didn't feel that way.

It's 580 yen compared to the MEVIUS E series (500 yen), so as a retired person, I respect JT's efforts in product development, but I think the E series is fine as it is.

JTのメビウスOne Eシリーズのデザイン変更は、小箱の中の包装紙も新しくなっていました

これまでは、アルミ蒸着紙でしたが、白い特殊な紙になっていました。この紙は、フィリップモリスでも使われていました

その理由を考えていましたが、知り合いの専門家に聞く機会があり、環境面に配慮（アルミ使用を減少させる）しているようです、とのことです

The redesign of JT's MEVIUS One E series also brought with it a new wrapping paper for the inside of the small boxes.

This paper was also used by Philip Morris.

And I was wondering why. I had a chance to ask an expert I know about it, and he told me that it seems to be an environmental consideration (to reduce the use of aluminum).

最近、私が吸っているメビウスEシリーズのパッケージがリニューアルされました（画像右が新タイプ）

旧タイプ（画像左）も市場に残っており、しばらくは混在するようです

また、シガレット吸い口のデザインも一新されました

でも、私には、少し情報を詰め込み過ぎなのかな？と感じられました

Recently, the packaging of the M EVIUS E series I smoke has been renewed (new type on the right of the image).

「口紅から機関車」まで幅広いデザインをすることによって、現在につながる「工業デザイナー」という分野を世に認識させたのですね

たばこ好きの私は、ピースのロゴと鳩のマークで、レイモンド・ローウィさんを知っていましたが、まさか不二家のマークやルックチョコレートのロゴまで、彼の手によるものとは驚きでした

I learned a lot from the many works designed by Mr. Raymond Loewy.

 By designing a wide range of products from "lipstick to locomotives," he made the world aware of the field of "industrial designers," a field that continues to this day.

As a tobacco lover, I knew Mr. Raymond Loewy from the Peace logo and the dove, but I was surprised to learn that he had also designed the Fujiya logo and the Look Chocolate logo!

神奈川県民センターから横浜駅西口へ向かうため、暑かったので北口地下通路に降りました

通路の右手に、新しく「THE TOBACCO」という喫煙所ができていました

興味があったので、知人と2人で立ち寄り一服させていただきました

また、雲丹バターたまご麺を食べた「むかん横浜」にも喫煙所がありました。店内からドアを開けるとテラス席があり、そこの右手が喫煙スペースになっていました

I went down to the underground passageway of the North Exit to go to the West Exit of Yokohama Station from Kanagawa Kenmin Center because it was hot!

On the right side of the passage, there was a new smoking area called "THE TOBACCO"!

I was curious about it, so my acquaintance and I stopped by for a smoke!

There was also a smoking area at "Mukan Yokohama" where I had the Udan Butter Egg Noodle. When you open the door from inside the restaurant, you will see a terrace, and to the right of the terrace was the smoking area!

お互い言い間違えても、最後は辻褄合わせが成立しているのですね

その事例として、たばこ🚬が引用されており、愛煙家の私としてはとても嬉しかったのです
