昨日は75年目を迎える長崎原爆の日でした。約75,000人の命が一瞬にして奪われる【合掌】とともに、被曝者の皆様とご家族の苦しみは今に続いています。
また、8月9日は、突然ソ連が日本に宣戦布告した日でもありました。ちょうど、永井荷風さんの『断腸亭日乗（下）』と合わせ、高杉一郎著『スターリン体験』（岩波書店）や長山靖夫著『日露戦争』（新潮社）を読んでいたので、自分自身の無知を再確認しつつ、新鮮な感覚で現在に続く歴史を受け止めています。
Yesterday was the 75th anniversary of the Nagasaki atomic bombing. About 75,000 lives were taken in an instant [Gassho], and the suffering of the victims and their families continues to this day.
August 9 was also the day that the Soviet Union suddenly declared war on Japan. I had just read "The Stalin Experience" by Ichiro Takasugi (Iwanami Shoten) and "The Russo-Japanese War" by Yasuo Nagayama (Shinchosha), along with "Danjotei Nippori (The Second Part)" by Kafu Nagai, so I reconfirm my own ignorance and accept the history that continues today with fresh senses.
というわけで、今朝も早起きして東神奈川駅前のマックでコーヒーを飲みながら、聞き覚えのない言語を発し、元気に楽しそうに喋っている外国人男女数人の声を煩わしく思いつつ、『スターリン体験』を読んできました。
So I got up early again this morning and read "The Stalin Experience" while drinking coffee at a McDonald's in front of Higashi-Kanagawa Station and being bothered by the voices of several foreign men and women who were speaking a language I did not recognize and who were talking cheerfully and happily.
