The other day, I visited the entrance of Tanaka Dormitory, which I had been curious about for some time.
I walk from the west exit of Yokohama Station to my right, and as I walk up a steep hill, I see the entrance to a stylish Japanese restaurant called Daimachi.

According to the explanation to the right of the entrance, Oryo, the wife of Ryoma Sakamoto, a leading figure in the Meiji Restoration, worked as a live-in waitress at Tanaka Dormitory after Ryoma was assassinated.
Behind the tobacco tray and menu table that greets customers, there was a cat curled up on a special cushion.

When I touched the cat's neck and side, it got up looking annoyed.
She looked up at me as I took the photo with the expression of an elegant cat who had been raised with great care.
The cat was so cute that I had the urge to pick it up and rub my cheek against it, but I held back.
