2月9日は肉の日だそうです。毎月の29日も肉の日ですね。肉類でみると、日本では豚肉消費量が増え続け、次が唐揚げブームもあって鶏肉です。
一方、牛肉(和牛)は年々消費量が減り続けています。そこで、日本では輸出に力を入れているのですね。
本日のNHK「漫画家イエナガ」では、「和牛」を解説していました。いま、日本生まれの和牛が世界の人たちを魅了し、輸出額は520億円にまで増えています。
神戸牛などのブランド黒毛和牛は、全国で200以上ありますが、元々は但馬牛の田尻号という雄牛の子孫なのですね。
明治時代からの肉食奨励によって、外国からたくさんの牛を買い、和牛との交配が進み、和牛の原種が絶滅しそうになりました。
高地で、外国牛との交配を免れた4頭の但馬牛を見つけ、そこから黒毛和牛が日本全国に広がったそうです。
というわけですが、本日のわが家の夕食は「豚肉の生姜焼き」でした。そろそろ黒毛和牛を食べたいなぁ!

There are more than 200 branded black Wagyu cattle in Japan, such as Kobe Beef, and they are descended from a bull called Tajiri-go, which was originally a Tajima cow.
With the encouragement of meat eating since the Meiji era, many cattle were bought from foreign countries and crossbred with Wagyu cattle, and the original breed of Wagyu cattle almost became extinct.
In the highlands, they found four Tajima cows that had escaped interbreeding with foreign cows, and from there the black Wagyu spread throughout Japan.
So, today's dinner at our house was "pork with ginger". I wish I could eat black beef soon!
