たばこの気持ち

来春の土曜日、私は10名ほどの東洋大学の学友を連れて、慶応大学三田キャンパスを散策する予定です。

その下見をかねて、旧慶応大学図書館の写真を何枚か撮ってきました。

館内新しくカフェ☕️が出来たようです。私は近いうち、その八角塔でコーヒーを飲んでようと思います。

なお、旧図書館の解説パネル本文は以下のとおりです。

【重要文化財 慶應義塾図書館】

この建物は義塾創立五十周年を記念し明治四十五年四月、工学博士学曽彌達蔵、工学士中條精一郎両氏の設計監督によって完成したもので、外国人の手を全く借りずに造られた洋風煉瓦館としては一級品である。

震災、戦災による被害を修復し、今日なお当初の遺構を留めている。

煉瓦建築の少ない我が国にあつて、建築史上貴重な存在である。

Next spring, on a Saturday, I will be taking a walk around Keio University's Mita Campus with about 10 of my Toyo University alumni.

In preparation for the preview, I took some photos of the former Keio University Library.

It seems that a new cafe ☕️ has been opened in the building. I'm thinking of having coffee at that octagonal tower soon.

The text of the explanatory panel of the old library is as follows.

This building was completed in April 1904 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Keio University's founding, with the design and supervision of Dr. Tatsuzo Soya, Ph.D., and Seiichiro Nakajo, Ph.D., and was completed without any help from foreigners. It is a first-class Western-style brick building.

The damage caused by the earthquake and war has been repaired, and the original structure still remains today.

In Japan, where there are few brick buildings, it is a valuable piece of architectural history.
