昨日、鹿児島県鹿児島市在住の友人（東洋大学工学部卒業）から「串木野のつけあげ」が届きました。

地元の方々は、さつま揚げのことを「つけ揚げ」と呼びます。お隣の宮崎県では「天ぷら」と言います。

どちらも「甘いさつま揚げ」です。私の妻は甘いものを苦手にしていますが、鹿児島と宮崎のさつま揚げは大好きで、今回もたちまち食べきってしまいそうです。本日のランチお弁当にも、さつま揚げが二つ入っていました。

Yesterday, I received "Kushikino no Tsukeage" from a friend (Graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Toyo University) living in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture.

Local people call satsumaage "tsukeage". In neighboring Miyazaki Prefecture, it is called tempura.

Both are "sweet satsuma-age". My wife doesn't like sweets, but she loves Kagoshima and Miyazaki's satsumaage, and she's likely to eat them all up again this time. Today's lunch box also had two fish cakes.
