私の父が、昭和62 年に書いた「老人の主張」という文章を読みました

当時80歳過ぎの老人が書いたものとしては、今読んでも新鮮でした

塙町第三回青少年主張大会原稿から

私は日頃考えている事と地域の実情に思うことについて、 話を進めることにします。
だれしもが健康で豊かな生活を送りたい。
しかも、我が子や孫たちと暮したいと念願しない人はないでし よう。これがためには脳の力と具体的体力を高めることが、 まず第一であろうと思います。 私の知っている限りでも80歳を越えてなお「かくしゃく」としている人が大勢おります。 しかし､私も其の人達のようになりたいことを目標にして高齢者 学級やゲートボール等を通じて勉強を続けています。
その中で
ボケを防止すること
適当な運動をすること
新聞や本を 読むこと
人とのつきあいをよくすること
等に努めていま す。 ボケたり寝たきり老人になったとしたら本人が不幸なば かりか、家族の人生にも深刻な影響を与えることになります。
自分の努力によってボケや老化が防げたとしたら積極的に努力すべきであり、社会的にも責任のある生き方であろうと思います。
しかしながら、私も物忘れや記憶力が悪くなってきて、メガネや財布を置き忘れて大騒ぎをすることが度々あります。
だからといって、判断力や考え方は決して弱っていません。これまでの体験の積み重ねによって得たものを大切にし、社会 的にも今ひとふんばり頑張らなければと自分に言い聞かせて います。
高齢者学級に入って4年になりますが、 墨絵教室や ゲートボール、藁細工等も勉強しています。
いずれの場合で 健康の増進と親睦を図ることを何よりの楽しみにしていま す。公民館や先生方の御指導よろしきを得て、各部門とも上 達はしていますが、なかでも人間関係の広まったことはすば らしいものがあります。
長生きをしていることを、本人も家族 喜べるようにしたいし、老人が我慢をして家族の犠牲になるようでは決して幸せとは言われません｡
話は変りますが「いじめ」は学校だけのものではなく、社会 的に大きく広がっています。
農業がいい例でしょう。 最近、方々にゴルフ場や工業団地等が開発されています。
かつて、昭和45年の「列島改造ブーム」の時も、すさまじい 勢いで開発攻勢が農村に押し寄せてきました。その後もあとをたたず自然を破壊し、緑が少なくなって行く姿はもう耐 えられません｡
これからの農業は、開発共存という形でしか展 望がないのかと思うとがっかりします。
農民にとって土地の 所有は、農業で生活するために欠かせないもので自動的に子孫 に引き継ぐ宝物なのです。
しかし、これに追打ちをかけるように農業構造改善が行なわ れた大きくして能率を上げ、余剰労力は工場を誘致し て吸収するということでしたが､今だに働く場所のない人が 大勢います。
また、農業構造改善事業の工事費の返済財であ る米の値下がりの押しつけくわえてコンニャクを初め とするすべての農産物の値下がりとあっては、ふんだりけっ たりの農政と言わなければなりません。
昨年11月末のニュースで、自民党農政審議会の農協への提言がありました。
そこで、農協は「農民のための農協でない」と言っていま した。
以前は「日本の農協」「世界の農協」として自負して いたのではないでしょうか。
息子に引き継いだ老人ではあり ますが、将来が心配でたまりません｡
こんな事に関連して、我が国の農業はこれでいいのかということについても、2 〜3点にし ぼり､話をしてみたいと思います。
我が町は東白川郡の中央にあり地理的にも恵まれていなが 棚倉町や矢祭町に比べ発展が遅れてはいないか、活気がな いのではないか、と気にしているのです。 道路の開発も良いが、国道289号、349号が我が町の中 心を通らず、よその町や市が便利になっているということで す。商店街もスーパー等に流れる人が多くなり、何かさびし いものを感じます。
山林農業にとっては欠かせないものでありますが､輸入材 によって妨害され生産意欲を失っている現状なのです。 こんな時代が続いたとしたら、一家心中をするような農家が多 くなることは疑いありません。
塙町の活性化は、これからが一番大きな問題でしょう。
具体的には、
農村と商店街が、がっちりと手を握り交流を深め ること
そして、我が町を中心とする横断道の開発に全力をあ げること
町を愛する心を育てること
それらが急務ではないでしょうか。
さて、本日は小学校から高校までの生徒さんが大勢おいで になっているので、日頃私がやっていることをお話してみた いと思います。 子供達は社会の財産、宝ですから、ふれあい を多くし一緒に遊んだり物を作ったりしたいと考えています。
幸い、常豊小学校の陳野校長先生の御指導と先生方やPTAの協力もあって小学校にゲートボール部を作っていただき 子供達と共に、週1回練習しています。
人間も動物ですから、鳥や魚や虫などが住めない所で、生きていくわけにはいきません。これからも子供達と共に楽しい 平和な地域社会を作るための原動力となり「いじめ」や「ボ ケ」を追放する決意です。
また、子供の時代と共にお母さん達の社会的進出も目ざましいも のがありますが、それに加えて今後の高齢化社会を展望する 時、「大変な事になる」と心配する人もあります。
しかし、私 は「女性」も「子供」も「老人」も頑張っていると言いたい のです。特に老人パワーは年金という財政的裏付けもあり、 各種活動、様々な催し、ボランティア活動など、自分を磨く ために残り少ない余生を意識した人間の強みを強烈に主張し はじめているのです。 福島県東白川郡塙町の老人たちが、平和を祈りながら世界を見ている のです。
また、藁細工をやったり12月には老人の授業参観も計画して いただきました。このような事を推進していくなかで
挨拶 が良くなったこと
物を上手に作ること
ゲートボールの面 白さ
など、子供共々喜んでいますし、地域の人たちも喜んで います。
こうして、私たちの地区では子供たちと老人の共同作 業が進んでおり、町を愛する精神の種を播き手入れを続けて います。私達老人は身近にある歴史を大切にするため今まで の暮らし方や経験を子どもたちと共有出来る様にしたいと考 え、努力しています。
