The innocent brightness of a new-born Day　 Is lovely yet;　
The Clouds that gather round the setting sun　　
Do take a sober colouring from an eye　
That hath kept watch o’er man’s mortality;　
Another race hath been, and other palms are won.　
Thanks to the human heart by which we live. 　
Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears,　
To me the meanest flower that blows can give　
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.　

生まれくる新しい日の無垢な輝きは、まだ瑞々しく、
沈みゆく太陽めぐらす雲たちに
謹厳の色彩を読みとる瞳は　
人の死すべき運命を見た瞳、
時の歩みたどらせ、そしてもう一つの掌に克ちとらす。
生きて出逢う人の心へ感謝して。
その感謝は優しき温もりへ、歓喜へ、そして恐怖すら、
僕には密やかに咲く花こそ意味深い　
涙たちより深く心響かせる。
