AONB: Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Area of outstanding natural beauty を直訳すると、特別自然美観地域。

Malvern Hills もその一つ。

幾つかの丘があり歩きに行きました。

少し登っただけで広い空と美しい景色が見えるのでワーワー喜んでいたけれど、登り切ると更に素晴らしい眺め。

土曜日なのに殆ど人に出会わない。

丘を登る途中、平坦なところもあり。

The Lord of the Rings のシャイアを思い起こさせる景色😍

(行った事ないけど😅)

The Beacon に向かう！

荒涼としてるのに美しい。

丘の上は風が強く下より寒かった。

標高400m程だから2.4度位低い？

1匹も見なかったのにウサギのフンだらけだった。

Watership Down を思い出した。

ビーコンの丘。

The Return of the Kingに出てきたー。

"See! The beacons of Gondor are alight, calling for aid. War is kindled. See, there is the fire on Amon Dîn, and flame on Eilenach; and there they go speeding west: Nardol, Erelas, Min-Rimmon, Calenhad, and the Halifirien on the borders of Rohan." 

映画ではアラゴーンが "The Beacons of Minas Tirith! The Beacons are lit!" "Gondor calls for aid!"と叫んでました。

ビーコンは急を知らせる手段、いわば炎のリレー。　

映画『The Return of the King:王の帰還』のビーコンのシーンは印象的でした！

丘の下には結構な数の家があります。

Great Malvern、実は C.S Lewis や J.R.R.Talkien と繋がりがあるんですって。
