書き初め 酒 薔薇

薔薇という字を筆で書いてみたかったのだが，冴えない結果となった．

「酒薔薇 (と言うより「酒バラ」) はジャズファンにはスタンダードだが，もとはジャック・レモン主演のアル中をテーマとする 1962 年制作の映画のタイトル．

このタイトルはErnest Dowson の "Vitae Summa Brevis Spem Nos Vetat Incohare Longam" の一節から取ったそうだ (

1896 年の原詩は

Henry Mancini の曲に歌詞をつけたのは Johnny Mercer．そこの "a closing door marked 'nevermore'" って何のことだろうと長いこと思っていたが，原詩の "the gate" に対応していたんだ．
