My life as an Egyptian

By  Anonymous  5th

My name is Halima. My job is to serve the Pharaoh. I polish his belongings, clean his room and do whatever else that needs to be done. Sometimes I get the privilege to talk to the Pharaoh himself. It pays well and helps me take care of my family.

I live in a small house along the Nile River, along with my parents and brother. I enjoy sitting by the river and listening to my music, being careful to avoid the crocodiles and other creatures as my feet rest in the cool water. The sound of the rhythmic melodies and the river splashing against the rocks makes me want to fall into a deep sleep on the sandy ground. Sometimes after an hour of peace I come inside and my Mom has a delicious meal ready for me. My favorite is this foreign noodle dish she makes sometimes. It is hot, spicy and I can choose my own topping.

I also enjoy reading books. Books fill your mind with thoughts and wonders. They make you curious as to what you would have done in the characters place. When I am in a bad mood I lie down open a book and immediately I feel calmed, as if  someone had walked up to me and  took my troubles away. My favorite book is Fading echoes, a book in my favorite series, warriors. I am not sure what my favorite movie is but I like to watch movies made from books. Sometimes though, they aren’t very accurate to the story.

I love my family very much. My dad is a really great reader and I love to listen to him tell stories. My brother is kind of shy but he is really nice to me.... most of the time. My mom takes care of me and I love her very much. Family is a wonderful thing I couldn’t live without.

That is my life as an Egyptian. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
