オンラインクラスの学生たちに、一人ずつ自己紹介を書いてもらい、Discussion Boardに投稿してもらう。
学生は、約６０名。それぞれのインフォメーションをエクセルのシートにまとめ、次のような文をメールで出す(一部、紹介）。びっくりするのは、子育て真っ最中の人が大多数。しかも、子どもが３人前後の人が多く、中にはグランマも数人いる。そのほか、白血病で治療の最中の人とか、もとラスベガスでCard Dealerだった人とか、軍隊にいた人とか、いろいろな人生を体験している人たちが受講している。このような私で、仕事が勤まるのかしらと、ますます不安になりながらも、ワクワク興奮の境地。
· Average age of the students = 30.7 (N=20)
· Percent of students who have children = 65% (I didn't include those who are expecting babies. By the way congratulations to those who are expecting or waiting for upcoming weddings!)
· Place of living = Mostly Washington, but also from VA, IL, OR, AK, CA and Germany (I was also excited to find a student who used to live in Japan. :)
By reading your postings, I learned that many of you (especially 1st year DDP students) are anxious about online courses. Me too : ) This is my first time teaching an online course.
