番外編505.From Philippines NIKKAに依頼した仕事

 

　最近私は、ブログを書くことに飽きていた。

しかしフィリピンから送られてきた画像をみたときに、再びブログを書く意欲がわいた。

フィリピン共和国ブラカン州。

マニラから車で1時間半の郊外の街。周囲は農地が広がり、海側にむかって湿地帯が続いている。最近この湿地帯に、新しい国際空港をつくることが決まった。

パンデミックで静まりかえるブラカンの街のなかに、人々の明るい声を感じた。行き詰まる暮らしのなかで、一息つける安らぎを感じさせてくれる画像だった。

 私が、この街を訪れたのは、まだ冬の名残が日本に残っていた2019年の3月だった。S君の奥さんが、この街の出身だから、一緒にくっついていった。ガイドブックにも記載されない、従って観光客が訪問するはない、小さな街だ。だからフィリピンの生活が垣間見えるだろうという研究者としての直感だった。

2ヶ月前、私はNIKKA  PAGUTALUNANに仕事を依頼した。この街を撮影をしてこい!。

最初は彼女も、戸惑っていた。だが何回も撮影をしてゆくうちに、彼女も少しわかってきたようだ。

そんな彼女が撮影した画像をみていると、私はブログで編集しようと考えた。

パンデミック下にある、この街の日常を少し追いかけてみよう。

Lately I've been tired of writing blogs.

However, when I saw the image sent from the Philippines, I was motivated to write a blog again.

Bulacan, Republic of the Philippines.

A suburban town about an hour and a half drive from Manila. Agricultural land spreads around the area, and wetlands continue toward the sea side. Recently it was decided to build a new international airport in this wetland.

I felt the bright voices of the people in the pandemic and quiet city of Bracan. It was an image that made me feel at ease in a deadlocked life.

I visited this city in March 2019, when the remnants of winter still remained in Japan. Mr. S's wife is from this town, so we stuck together. It's a small town that isn't even mentioned in guidebooks, so tourists don't visit it. Therefore, it was my intuition as a researcher that I could get a glimpse of life in the Philippines.

Two months ago, I asked NIKKA PAGUTALUNAN to do the job. Take a picture of this city!

At first she was confused too. However, as she shot many times, she seemed to understand a little.

When she was looking at the images she took, I decided to edit them on my blog.

Let's follow the daily life of this city under the pandemic.
