紫陽花

６月２日　　

 

門を入って階段を幾つか上って玄関までのエントランス、

小さな紫陽花が咲き揃って嬉しい明け暮れである。

ずっと前に求めた黒味帯びた深紅の紫陽花は年々色を変え

今ではこの様なピンク色に変わってしまったが、この華やかさも気にいっている。

Entering through the gate and climbing a few stairs is the entrance to the foyer.

It is a joyful life with small hydrangeas blooming.

The dark reddish hydrangea that I got a long time ago has changed its color year by year,

And now it has transformed into this pink color, but I also love this vibrant beauty.

菖蒲

 ５月３１日

 

美しい朝、今朝は菖蒲が咲いた。

真っ直ぐ伸びた凛とした佇まいには、こちらの気持ちも

引き締まる。

On this beautiful morning, an Irises bloomed at our gaeden.

In their straight and dignified posture, my own feelings are also strengthened.

マティス展

友人夫妻と連れ立って上野東京都美術館にマティス展を鑑賞に行ってきた。

７，８年程前ポンピドーセンターで見た絵がやって来たらしい。

懐かしさもあり勇んで上野の森に出かけて行ったがパリのそれに比べ出品作品は少なかった。

特にダンスなど切り紙絵をもう少し見たかった。一部絵画は撮影OK、外国並みになって来た。

We went to the Ueno Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum to see the Matisse exhibition with  friends.

It seems that the paintings we saw about seven or eight years ago at the Pompidou Center have arrived here.

With a sense of nostalgia, we eagerly headed to Ueno Forest, but compared to the exhibition in Paris, there were fewer works on display.

We especially wanted to see more cut-out paper art, such as "the dance". Some of the paintings allowed photography, and it felt like being in a foreign country in terms of photography permissions.

５月２６日 

 

五十年余の長きに亙り親しくさせて頂いているSG夫妻、SG氏は蘭の愛好家、

知り合った当時、もう既に自宅に蘭の温室を持っていて数多い欄を育てていた。

先日、愛らしい蘭の一鉢を頂いた。

これから一か月位はこの美しい蘭を愛でながら元気に過そう。

We have been in close friendship with the SG couple for over fifty years, and Mr. SG is a lover of orchids.

Just recently, he gave us a lovely potted orchid as a gift.

For the next month or so, we will enjoy taking care of this beautiful orchid and spend our time in good spirits.

枇杷

５月２２日

 

近所のイギリス人の奥さんから枇杷を頂いた。お庭から採れた香り高い自家製枇杷である。

早速ミスターマスダ謹製の”織部の平皿”に盛ってみた。良く似合っている。

御移りに我が家の庭の紫陽花を差し上げた。人生は物のやり取りである。

I received a loquat from the British wife of my neighbor. It is a fragrant, homegrown loquat picked from her garden.

I immediately placed it on Mr. Masuda's specially crafted "Oribe flat plate." It looks perfect on it.

As a gesture in return, I presented the hydrangeas from our garden to her. Life is about exchanging things.

山法師

五メートルを超すほどの大樹に育った山法師に白い花がぎっしりと咲いている。

真っ直ぐ伸び、凛とした姿は好ましいものである。

三人目の孫の誕生の記念に植えたものだが、彼はこの五月、二十五歳になった。

The Yamabushi tree, which has grown into a majestic tree surpassing five meters in height, is covered with densely blooming white flowers.

Its upright and dignified figure is truly admirable.   It was planted in celebration of the birth of the third grandchild.   He turned twenty-five this May.

檸檬の花

5月１８日

 

たった一つレモンが実っていた鉢植えのレモンを植えて四半世紀、大樹となった。

五月、夥しい程の数、多分三千位の花が咲き、毎日これも夥しいほどの花弁が散る。

このうち三百位が深い緑の豆粒ほどに結実する。

この実も幾つも落ちてしまい、初冬、あの美しいレモン色に実るのは、毎年

百五十個から二百位となる。

A potted lemon tree that had only one lemon growing on it was planted and grew into a large tree over the course of a quarter-century.

In May, an enormous number of flowers bloomed, perhaps around three thousand, and each day an equally enormous number of petals fell.

Among them, about three hundred fruits the size of small green beans formed.

Many of these fruits fell off, but come early winter, it is a yearly occurrence for about one hundred fifty to two hundred of them to ripen into that beautiful lemon color.

マザース デイ

５月１４日

 

「母の日」、カーネーションや洋菓子が届いて、ミセス・マスダはとても倖せそう。

子供達に心配をかけないよう、更に心身の健康に努めて過ごしたいと言っている。

It is"Mother's Day".

Mrs. Masuda seems very happy receiving carnations and sweets.

She says that she wants to continue taking care of her mental and physical health to avoid worrying her children.

蕗

５月９日

 

裏庭では今年も野蕗が盛んである。三十本ほど伽羅蕗にした。

炊きたて御飯との相性は抜群、初夏の味を楽しんでいる。

This year as well, the wild butterbur（Fuki) is thriving in the backyard. I made a pickled butterbur.

It goes perfectly with freshly cooked rice, and I'm enjoying the taste of early summer.
