The latest version of Apple's iPhone has already gone on sale in China, albeit the black market. The "hiPhone 5", which cost as little as 200 yuan, is selling like hot cakes on the country's major e-commerce websites.
アップルのiPhon 最新版がすでに中国市場に出回っている... ただし闇市場である。わずか２００元の「hiPhone 5」は中国の主要ネット販売サイトで飛ぶように売れている。
sell like hot cakes は飛ぶように売れるという意味。
日本語の「ホットケーキ」は英語ではhot cake ではなく、pancake が一般的。
ただし、この「飛ぶように売れる」という表現としては、現在もよく使われているそうです。
えー、こういう「例外」があるから、混乱しちゃうんだよなあ。
