ネットサーフィンをしていたら今年のエミー賞の授賞式に出席していたスターのファッションを紹介しているサイトがありました。
お馴染みの、「ベストドレッサー」、「ワーストドレッサー」の判定付。
みーはーばっちもんがら、こういうの大好きです。
英語表現で参考になりそうなものをいくつか拾ってみました。
Best: Jennifer Love Hewitt often has many misses on the red carpet, but she scores a hit this time around in a traditional black gown.
"this time around" は今回は。これまでよくこけていたので、今度こそ！という強調なんですね。
Best: We love the simplicity of Sandra Oh's dress, but wish she would've worn her hair down.
髪を下ろすという表現"wear one's hair down"、さっと出るようにしたいです。
Worst: We love the color of Sarah Chalke's dress, but it's way too frilly in front.
"way too"、使えそうで使ってない。多分、 "too"とだけ言ってしまうなあ。
Worst: Is Hayden Panettiere expecting? That's the only reason we can think of as to why she chose this shapeless gown.
"be expecting"は「妊娠している」という意味だとわかっていても、いざとなると"pregnant"と絶対言いそう。
きっと色々迷った末のチョイスだったんでしょうが、失敗しちゃったんですね。
お気の毒ですが、彼女の写真を見た限りでは、私も同じ意見でした。来年はベストになろうね！
