ケイト・ブランシェットがジュディ・デンチの印象をこう語っています。
"Judi is an astonishing actor who has an incredible economy
and an extraordinary technique and this mercurial ability
to make it seem utterly effortless".
"economy"はここでは経済ではなくて、「動きや言葉に無駄のないこと」。
"mercurial"も「水銀の」という意味が最初に浮かんでしまいますが、「機知に富んだ」という意味もあるんですね。
二人ともこの映画でゴールデン・グローブ賞の主演・助演女優賞にノミネートされていましたが、残念ながら賞は逃しました。
アカデミー賞の方はどうでしょう。
