A city in Japan has kicked off a unique promotional campaign and it's selling manhole covers.
On Wednesday, the city of Maebashi handed 10 manhole covers to winners out of around 200 applicants from around the country.

"I'll put it on my porch, then I'll think about what to do with it."
The covers come in three different designs, including one with roses, the city's municipal flower.
Officials say they are more than happy with the response.

"We were surprised. We got a bigger reaction than expected."
Manhole covers have become increasingly popular among Japanese collectors because of their unique designs.
Maebashi is the first city to launch such a campaign. Officials say they are considering selling even more manhole covers in the future.
