SEVEN-ELEVEN TO TEST REDUCED HOURSセブン‐イレブン 加盟店も時短実験へ

Japan's leading convenience store chain says it will be testing out a reduced schedule at more stores than previously planned. This comes as a labor shortage has forced the country's 24/7 businesses to make adjustments.
Seven-Eleven Japan is cutting operating hours at a number of stores to 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on a trial basis starting later this month.
The company had previously planned to try out the reduced schedule at just 10 company-owned locations. But officials are adding several franchise stores to the list. They say the expanded trial will give them a better idea of how the shorter hours will affect operations.
Seven-Eleven Japan had made it a rule to keep all its outlets open around the clock. But a group of franchise stores are calling for shorter hours, citing the labor shortage.

【漢文】
曾子曰、吾聞諸夫子、孟莊子之孝也、其他可能也、其不改父之臣與父之政、是難能也。

【書き下し文】
曾子(そうし)曰わく、吾(われ)諸(こ)れを夫子(ふうし)に聞けり、孟荘子(もうそうし)の孝や、其の他は能(よ)くすべきなり。其の父の臣と父の政とを改めざるは、是(これ)能くし難きなり。

【現代語訳】
曾子(そうし)がおっしゃいました、
「以前私は孔子からこんな御言葉を聞いた。 "孟荘子(もうそうし)の孝行は、他は真似できたとしても、父親の家臣と政治を改めない姿勢は簡単に真似はできない事だ。" 」

【English】
Zeng Zi said, "I heard from Confucius, 'You can imitate the filial piety of Meng Zhuang Zi, except for succession of father's vassals and governance."


読んで字の如く「論じ語る」、孔子と弟子達や要人達との間に交された対話録。
『論語』は私たちの生き方の原点を見つめた思索の宝庫であり、人間性を磨く叡智が凝縮した永遠の古典。
読めば読むほど胸に深く沁み込む簡潔な言葉の数々。
『孟子』『大学』『中庸』と併せて儒教における「四書」の一つに数えられる。
全20編（学而第一～堯曰第二十） 構成され、編の名称は各編の最初の二文字を採ったものであり内容上の意味はない。
したがって、学而第一から順に読む必要はなくどこから読んでもかまわない。

手に汗握るミステリーである。しかも、島本理生だからこそ書ける類の。新作『ファーストラヴ』は、ある殺人事件の物語。いちばん分からないのが容疑者の心理、といえばホワイダニットものかと思ったが、またちょっと違うのだ。

ある夏の日、血まみれの姿で歩いていた女子大生が殺人容疑で逮捕される。彼女の名前は聖山環菜(ひじりやまかんな)、包丁で刺されて死亡した被害者は彼女の父親で画家の聖山那雄人(なおと)。だが、奇妙なことに環菜自身が「動機が分からない」という。
臨床心理士の真壁由紀はこの事件に関するノンフィクションの執筆を依頼され、被告の弁護人となった義弟の庵野迦葉(あんのかしょう)とともに、環菜や周辺の人々への面談を重ねていく。

幼い頃から自責の念が強かった様子の環菜、家庭では絶対君主であった父親、娘を案ずるどころか裁判では検察側の証人に立つ母親。
一体この家庭に何があって父殺しは起きたのか。面会での環菜の発言は漠然とし、母親や元恋人の証言とも食い違う。しかしその齟齬から、由紀は真実への手がかりを見出していく。心理分析のプロが探偵役だからこその謎へのアプローチだ。

由紀自身も、実は父親に対して、ある出来事で許せない思いを抱いている。人を救おうと真実を追求する人間もまた、葛藤を抱く生身の人間なのだ。迷い悩みながらも公正な道を探す姿が、親しみと敬意を抱かせる。
また、由紀と迦葉とは学生時代の知人であり、二人は過去に何かあった模様。後半に明かされる彼女たちの真実も胸に迫るものがある。そして終盤にはある人物が“覚醒"したかのような如才なさを見せるのが実に痛快。
最後のページに至るまで、謎と真相の提示のタイミングが絶妙で、超一級品のエンターテインメントとして楽しめるのだ。

ただし、途中から、私はずっと怒っていた。読み進めながら、自分の幼少時から十代の頃に至るさまざまな不快な出来事を思い出していたからだ。今思えば抱く必要のなかった、大人に押し付けられた罪悪感、反発することなど発想もできない抑圧感、あるいは性的な存在として見られることの気持ち悪さ、その他諸々(あまり書くとネタバレになるのでやめておく)。環境が違えば、自分も環菜になったかもしれないと思わずにはいられない。
それくらい、本作は無力な少女の心の傷を鮮烈に描き出す。そこに寄り添う由紀の存在と言葉が心強い。こうした現実的な問題が極上の物語となったからには、同じようなことで傷ついた人はもちろん、傷つける可能性がある人にも、本作が届くといいなと、心底思うのだ。
