教訓親の目鑑が性情的なものとすれば、このシリーズものは庶民風俗のなかで女性をスケッチしたものといえようか。
享和の頃の作。
粋でおきゃんな江戸の女、負けん気が強くて、涙もろい下町娘の面目が躍如としていて誠にほほえましい。
歌麿の美人画らしい女の体臭はここには見当たらないが、せいせいする絵柄である。
ほかにすけべいおぼこ、たわいなし、にくまれ盛り、などが知られている。

※喜多川歌麿
江戸時代の日本で活躍した浮世絵師の代表的な一人。
姓は北川、後に喜多川、幼名は市太郎、のち、勇助（または勇記）と改め、名は信美。
初号は豊章といい、歌麻呂、哥麿とも号す。
通常は「うたまろ」と読むが、秘画本には「うたまる」としているものもある。
俳諧では石要、木燕、燕岱斎、狂歌名は筆の綾丸、紫屋と号して、蔦屋重三郎とともに吉原連に属した。
国際的にもよく知られる浮世絵師として、葛飾北斎と並び称される。
繊細で優麗な描線を特徴とし、さまざまな姿態、表情の女性美を追求した美人画の大家である。

1969年、千葉県生まれ。

【コメント】
この著者の作品ははじめてであるが、読後感がいい。
人生に深みとコクを与えてくれる。

豊富な雨が育んだ、日本を代表する原生林

大台ケ原は、吉野熊野国立公園の中心に位置する標高１３００～１６９５ｍに広がった隆起準平原で、年間雨量が４５００ｍｍを超える世界有数の多雨地域です。
豊富な雨は湿潤な気候条件を生み出し、日本を代表する原生林を形成しました。
かつて大台ケ原は「魔の山」「迷いの山」として人々に恐れられる森でもありました。
江戸時代になると、神秘の森とひとつになりたいと願う行者や、深い森に新薬の材料を求める採薬師らが新天地を求め、手つかずの森に足跡を残すようになります。
やがて一般の人々も気軽に入れる森となりましたが、今でも恐ろしい言い伝えが残っています。
山に入ると「一本たたら」という妖怪に生き血を吸われるというのです。
「一本たたら」は、豪雨などの厳しい自然現象や山の守り神をあらわすと考えられます。
魔物の話を通して、謙虚な気持ちで自然と接するようにと人々を戒めてきたのかもしれません。

子曰、富而可求也、雖執鞭之士、吾亦爲之、如不可求、從吾所好、

【読み下し】
子の曰わく、富（とみ）にして求むべくんば、執鞭（しつべん）の士と雖も、吾れ亦たこれを為さん。如（も）し求むべからずんば、吾が好む所に従わん。

【通釈】
先生が言われた、「富みというものが追求してもよいものなら、鞭（むち）をとる露払い［のような賎しい役目］でも私は勤めようが、もし追求すべきでないなら、私の好きな生活に向かおう。」

【English】
The Master said, "If the search for riches is sure to be successful, though I should become a groom with whip in hand to get them, I will do so. As the search may not be successful, I will follow after that which I love."

『論語』とは
読んで字の如く「論じ語る」、孔子と弟子達や要人達との間に交された対話録。
『論語』は私たちの生き方の原点を見つめた思索の宝庫であり、人間性を磨く叡智が凝縮した永遠の古典。
読めば読むほど胸に深く沁み込む簡潔な言葉の数々。
『孟子』『大学』『中庸』と併せて儒教における「四書」の一つに数えられる。
