I went to Otaki-mura village, which is located in the western part of Nagano.
It was by the 1984 earthquake that Otaki was devastated. A huge earthquake hit Otaki-mura in September, 1984, when I was in a junior high school. The quake wreaked havoc throughout the village. There occurred a disastrous landslide, which ended up preventing the Otaki-river from running. Then the river was transformed into a natural lake.
Its atmosphere was so mysterious that I couldn't help feeling overwhelmed by the power of nature.
After seeing the lake, I went to a soba restaurant and enjoyed soba and roasted sweetfish. That's the reason I love living in Nagano.

Now the lake is a sightseeing spot, where we can enjoy canoeing. I've wanted to see this natural lake for a long time.
