Thousands of people are flocking to a castle in western Japan. It's been undergoing renovations for the past five years, and once again, it's been reopened to the public.
Himeji Castle is a World Heritage site in Hyogo Prefecture. Workers have repaired its outer walls and replaced tiles. The renovations cost about 20 million dollars. The whiteness of this 17th century castle has often been compared to a white heron.

"The castle is very beautiful against today's blue sky."
"The whiteness is outstanding. I'm proud of this castle."
Local officials say about 10,000 people showed up on Friday to be first to see the national treasure.
