Public health officials in Tokyo are working hard to identify the source of an outbreak of dengue fever. They've confirmed 12 more domestic cases of the virus, bringing the number of people infected to 36. And they've installed traps to catch the mosquitoes that are making people sick.
The officials are fighting the first outbreak of dengue fever in almost 70 years. Everyone infected was in or near a park in central Tokyo last month. The officials believe all of them were bitten by mosquitoes.
Authorities are draining ponds in Yoyogi Park to try to prevent mosquitoes from breeding, and they've installed traps at 10 locations. The traps contain dry ice that emit carbon dioxide to attract the mosquitoes. The officials will take a batch to a laboratory for testing.
