Japanese researchers have made a discovery that could lead to better treatment for an itchy skin condition.
Researchers at Kyushu University say they identified a protein that plays a big role in causing atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema. The researchers also say this has been confirmed in experiments using human cells.

"Most prescribed treatments cure the overall symptoms of the rash. Our discovery could lead to the development of new drugs that can target the itchiness."
Eczema affects about 10 percent of Japan's population.
