Authorities in Dubai are testing something they hope will provide some relief to their chronic traffic congestion ― a flying taxi. The city is aiming to become the world's first, where passengers can be flown around town.
Local transportation authorities in the UAE and a German firm have jointly held their first test flight. The aircraft has two seats and 18 propellers above its helicopter-like cabin. It can take passengers for journeys lasting as long as 30 minutes.
The competition to develop flying vehicles is taking off. Executives at Google, Airbus, and Toyota are among those in the race.
