徒然草 第九十四段

【原文】　　

常磐井相国、出仕し給ひけるに、勅書を持ちたる北面あひ奉りて、馬より下りたりけるを、相国、後に、「北面某は、勅書を持ちながら下馬し侍りし者なり。かほどの者、いかでか、君に仕うまつり候ふべき」と申されければ、北面を放たれにけり。
勅書を、馬の上ながら、捧げて見せ奉るべし、下るべからずとぞ。

【現代語訳】

常磐井の太政大臣が、役所勤めをしていた頃、皇帝の勅令を持った武士が、大臣に接見した。その際に馬から下りたので、大臣はその後「先ほどの武士は、皇帝の勅令を持ちながら馬から下りやがった。あんな馬鹿たれを中央官庁で働かせるわけにはいかん」と言って、即座に解雇した。
勅令は馬に乗ったまま両手で高く上げて見せるのであって、馬から下りたら失礼なのだ。

◆鎌倉末期の随筆。吉田兼好著。上下2巻，244段からなる。1317年(文保1)から1331年(元弘1)の間に成立したか。その間，幾つかのまとまった段が少しずつ執筆され，それが編集されて現在見るような形態になったと考えられる。それらを通じて一貫した筋はなく，連歌的ともいうべき配列方法がとられている。形式は《枕草子》を模倣しているが，内容は，作者の見聞談，感想，実用知識，有職の心得など多彩であり，仏教の厭世思想を根底にもち，人生論的色彩を濃くしている。

【著者略歴 について】

吉田/昌生
一般社団法人マインドフルネス瞑想協会代表。福岡県出身。精神的な不調和を経験したことをきっかけに、理想的な心と身体のあり方を瞑想、ヨガ、心理学などを通して研究。インドをはじめ35カ国以上を巡り、様々な文化に触れながら各地の瞑想やヨガを実践する。その中でマインドフルネスに出会い、その効果に感動。以降、マインドフルネスの普及に努める。現在はマインドフルネスに関する執筆の他、日本各地でマインドフルネスをベースにしたヨガクラスやマインドフルネス瞑想の講座、講演会を行う。

【最も印象に残った一行】
他人の喜び、悲しみを、自分の喜び、苦しみと感じることで、自分という枠が広がり、内なる平和とつながることができる。

呼吸は「今、ここ」に常にある身体感覚です。

その当り前になりがちな「呼吸」に、注意を向けていくものです。

指向や感情を、人生で起こるドラマを、ただ映し出している背後のスクリーン。

それこそが「本当の自分」です。
