ABE DEFENDS COUNTRY-WIDE SCHOOL CLOSURES首相 全国の小中高校に臨時休校要請

Let's start with the latest on a controversial decision here in Japan surrounding the coronavirus. The prime minister is defending his government's plan to shut down schools nationwide and says he will never hesitate to take necessary steps to curb the spread of the contagion.
Shinzo Abe requested the closures of all elementary, junior and senior high schools, from next week through the start of the spring holidays. The directive has sparked concern and criticism across the country and will potentially impact more than 12 million students.
Abe asked for understanding and said the government will be responsible for issues resulting from the school closures.

"The period of time in the coming week or two is crucial to contain the spread of infections. The government will give the utmost priority to protecting the lives and health of Japanese people and take necessary measures depending on the development of the situation."

徒然草 第三十九段

【原文】  
或人、法然上人に、「念仏の時、睡にをかされて、行ぎやうを怠り侍る事、いかゞして、この障を止め侍らん」と申しければ、「目の醒めたらんほど、念仏し給へ」と答へられたりける、いと尊かりけり。
また、「往生は、一定と思へば一定、不定と思へば不定なり」と言はれけり。これも尊し。
また、「疑ひながらも、念仏すれば、往生す」とも言はれけり。これもまた尊し。

【現代語訳】
ある人が法然上人に「念仏を唱えているとき、睡魔におそわれ仏道修行をおろそかにしてしまうことがあるのですが、どうしたら、この問題を解決できるでしょうか?」と訪ねたら「目が覚めているときに、念仏を唱えなさい」と答えたそうな。とってもありがたいお言葉である。
また、「死後に天国に行けると思えば、きっと行けるだろうし、行けないと思えば無理だ」と言ったそうな。これも、とってもありがたいお言葉である。
それから、「死後に天国に行けるかどうか心配しながらでも、念仏を唱えていれば、成仏できる」と言ったそうな。これまた、とってもありがたいお言葉である。

◆鎌倉末期の随筆。吉田兼好著。上下2巻,244段からなる。1317年(文保1)から1331年(元弘1)の間に成立したか。その間,幾つかのまとまった段が少しずつ執筆され,それが編集されて現在見るような形態になったと考えられる。それらを通じて一貫した筋はなく,連歌的ともいうべき配列方法がとられている。形式は《枕草子》を模倣しているが,内容は,作者の見聞談,感想,実用知識,有職の心得など多彩であり,仏教の厭世思想を根底にもち,人生論的色彩を濃くしている。

He drank so much he can barely walk.
