特徴
ヤマモミジは、本種の亜種 (Acer palmatum subsp. matsumurae (Koidz) Ogata) または変種とされる場合があるが、オオモミジの変種 (Acer amoenum var. matsumurae) とされる場合もある。
日本の北海道・本州（島根県以東の日本海側の多雪地）に分布し、花期は 5月。葉には不揃いの重鋸歯があり、一般にイロハモミジより大きめになるが、変異が大きい。
