Rescue workers in southern China are searching the Yangtze River for passengers of a ship that went down. The state-run Xinhua news agency reports it caught a gust of wind Monday night and capsized. More than 450 people were on board.
The vessel was heading from Nanjing to the southwestern city of Chongqing. It sank in a section of the river about 15 meters deep in Hubei Province.
Authorities launched a rescue operation for passengers and crew members. Rescuers have found nine survivors so far, but strong winds and heavy rain are hampering their efforts.
Reports say most of the passengers were on tours organized by Chinese travel agencies. Xinhua says Premier Li Keqiang is on his way to the site of the accident. The report says Li will direct the search.
