JAPAN STARTS COVID-19 VACCINATIONS新型コロナ ワクチン先行接種始まる

Coronavirus vaccinations are now underway in Japan. About 40,000 healthcare workers will receive the jab in the first phase of the rollout.
This hospital in Tokyo is one of the 100 facilities nationwide that started administering the shot on Wednesday to doctors, nurses, and other staff who give their consent.
The Japanese government will analyze data from the first 20,000 recipients to assess the vaccine's efficacy and to check for side effects.
The initial round of inoculations will eventually be expanded to about 3.7 million medical workers. Officials say they hope to start administering the shot to the general public as soon as they can.
Municipalities across the country have been asked to draw up plans to vaccinate about 36 million people aged 65 or older starting in April.
The government says it will determine how many doses each prefecture will receive in the coming days.

徒然草 第八十九段

【原文】　　

　「奥山に、猫またといふものありて、人を食ふなる」と人の言ひけるに、「山ならねども、これらにも、猫の経上へあがりて、猫またに成りて、人とる事はあンなるものを」と言ふ者ありけるを、何阿弥陀仏とかや、連歌しける法師の、行願寺の辺へんにありけるが聞きて、独り歩かん身は心すべきことにこそと思ひける比しも、或所にて夜更くるまで連歌して、たゞ独り帰りけるに、小川の端にて、音に聞きし猫また、あやまたず、足許へふと寄り来て、やがてかきつくまゝに、頚のほどを食はんとす。肝心も失うせて、防かんとするに力もなく、足も立たず、小川へ転び入りて、「助けよや、猫またよやよや」と叫べば、家々より、松どもともして走り寄りて見れば、このわたりに見知れる僧なり。「こは如何に」とて、川の中より抱き起こしたれば、連歌の賭物取りて、扇・小箱など懐に持ちたりけるも、水に入りぬ。希有にして助かりたるさまにて、這ふ這ふ家に入りにけり。

　飼ひける犬の、暗くらけれど、主ぬしを知しりて、飛び付きたりけるとぞ。

【現代語訳】

　「山奥には猫又という肉食の怪獣がいて、人を食べるらしい」と、誰かが言えば「この近所でも、猫が猫又に進化して、人を襲ったらしい」と、言う者もいた。油小路にある行願寺の近くに住む何とか陀仏という連歌好きな坊さんが、それを聞いてしまって、「一人でうろつく私などは用心しなくては」とビビっていた矢先の事である。一人で夜道を、ドブ川に沿って歩いていると噂に聞いた猫又がいるではないか。猫又は狙いを定めて足下に突進し素早く飛びつき首を引き裂こうとした。びっくり仰天して逃げようにも腰砕けになっていて、ドブ川に転げ落ちた。「助けて。で、出た。猫又、猫又が出た」と叫んだので、近所の住民が懐中電灯を灯しながら駆けつけた。灯りを照らしてみると、この辺の名物坊主である。「なんで、そんなに無様な姿を晒しているのですか？」と、引っ張り出せば、連歌の懸賞で貰った小箱や扇がポケットから飛び出してドブ川に浮いている。崖っ淵から生還した坊さんは、血圧が上がったまま帰宅したのであった。

　実は、愛犬ポチが暗闇の中、ご主人様の帰りが嬉しくて尻尾を振り振り抱きついたそうだ。

◆鎌倉末期の随筆。吉田兼好著。上下2巻，244段からなる。1317年(文保1)から1331年(元弘1)の間に成立したか。その間，幾つかのまとまった段が少しずつ執筆され，それが編集されて現在見るような形態になったと考えられる。それらを通じて一貫した筋はなく，連歌的ともいうべき配列方法がとられている。形式は《枕草子》を模倣しているが，内容は，作者の見聞談，感想，実用知識，有職の心得など多彩であり，仏教の厭世思想を根底にもち，人生論的色彩を濃くしている。
