から紹介したい。
本書は故ブラックパンサー／ティ・チャラが残した秘密ファイルであるが、ソーについて、以下のように記してある。
Is a mystical explanation sufficient to detail Thor’s ability to absorb the energy of a lightning strike and release it through his hammer or his hands? I am reluctant to defer such explanations to the realm of the supernatural, and as one who has worn the mantle of the Black Panther, I am more familiar with the practice of mysticism than most. If I were to sum up my outlook on such anomalies, it would be that our collective human efforts will one day reach a point at which even the gifts of gods can be explained through scientific reasoning.

I am reluctant to defer such explanations to the realm of the supernaturalのdeferは、やや改まった言い方で、「 (敬意を表して…の意見に)従う 」の意味で使われる。

Thermal Manipulation
Iceman’s mutant power allows him to psionically control thermal energy levels, an ability expressed as an aura of intense cold radiating from his body that can drop temperatures in his vicinity to as low as -105 degrees Fahrenheit in less than a second. Although deploying this power observably affects his physiology — his body changing composition to assume a crystalline cellular structure resembling translucent ice—Iceman’s organic tissue sustains no damage. This transformation appears to have no effect on his speed or flexibility, suggesting that the structure of his cells is far less rigid than his icelike appearance would suggest. Some have suggested that he may even be capable of dropping temperatures to absolute zero, the point at which all molecular motion ceases, potentially making him one of the world’s most dangerous mutants.
温度の操作

動詞clobber（容赦なくたたく、ぶちのめす）は次のように使われる。

Body Modifications
Stark’s earliest attempt at altering his body’s physiology saw him implant a magnetic generator into his sternum, a device designed to prevent metallic shrapnel—sustained from an explosion—from traveling through his bloodstream and lodging in his heart. Multiple surgeries eventually removed every trace of shrapnel, though Stark chose to keep the chest generator, upgrading it with the same technology that powers his armor’s repulsors to provide an energy source that would keep his blood pumping in case of heart failure. Most recently, Stark has abandoned surgical implants in favor of DNA modifications that have rewritten his genetic code.

変身能力のある宇宙種族スクラルがすでに地球に何名も潜伏し、地球のヒーローに変身しているかもしれない。ヒーローになりすましたスクラルを見分けるために、故ブラックパンサーは地球の重要ヒーローたちの詳細な解剖図（Anatomy）残していた……。
