dusk と dawn

トラスト英語学院はテナントビルの３Fにありますが、冬晴れの日没後には綺麗な薄明が見られます。

昨日（１月21日）の薄明　17：30頃撮影

「薄明」を英語で言うと、twilight か dusk でしょう。

Wikipedia では

Dusk occurs at the darkest stage of twilight, or at the very end of astronomical twilight after sunset and just before nightfall.

と定義されています。

dusk の 反意語は dawn（夜明け）ですが、dawn には動詞もあって、It dawns on 人 that ～ は「～が明らかになる、わかってくる」という慣用表現になります。

All of a sudden, it dawned ------- me why he was nervous all the time at the party the other day: he was worrying about his son who was in the hospital.
