　本業でふたたび各種英語試験の問題集や単語帳の企画を進めているので、TOEIC SpeakingやTOEFL iBTなどの問題はチェックしている。

　ただ楽しみたいので、TOEIC SpeakingのDescribe a picture (写真描写問題)は実際の試験には出ないような問題をChatGPTなどで作っている。

　本日のGetUpEnglishは一つ紹介しよう。

　添付したようなイメージをどんな英語で描写すればよいか？

　次のように言ったらカッコいいだろう。

●Extra Point

  suaveは男性に対して使われることが多く、その人が「魅力的で、礼儀正しく、上品である」ことを表すのに用いられる。

　2例挙げる。

"Despite the chaos around him, Tony remained suave and collected, impressing everyone in the room."

「周りの人たちは混乱していたが、トニーが取り乱すことなく、落ち着いていたので、部屋にいた者たちはみんな感心した」

　このcollectedは「落ちついた、沈着な、平静な」。

"He wore a suave suit to the interview, which complemented his confident demeanor."

「彼は面接に洗練されたスーツを着ていき、自信に満ちた態度も感じさせた」

　complementは「～を引き立てる、補完する」。

「誉め言葉」のcomplimentと間違えないこと。
