　第1文のDo you need to know the answers to any of those questions to understand and enjoy what’s happening in the comic?のneedがイタリックになっているので、訳文を「～する必要がある」あるいは「～しなければならない」とし、その部分に傍点を打つというのが常套かもしれないが、「それで読者に抵抗なく受け入れてもらえるだろうか？」と考えなければいけない。

　こういう場合は「強調の副詞」を使い、そこに強調の意味を込めて、特にイタリックにしない、ということでもいいような気がする。ここでは、

「～をしないと、決して楽しめないだろうか？」としてみた。

　you are off to the races.のoff to the racesはまだ辞書にはあまり載っていない表現だが、「何かが始まる、または何かが急速に進む」ことを表現する。

　なので、「続々と」という副詞を充てて、

　こんな具合に続々といろんなことがわかってしまうのだ。

とすれば、十分に英語のイタリック体を含めてニュアンスが再現できるのではないだろうか？

　off to the racesの用例をいくつか挙げる。
