TO GET THE SHOW ON THE ROAD

　to get the show on the roadは、「仕事に取りかかる、活動を開始する」の意味でよく使われる。

　“When are we going to start making this sukiyaki, Jack?”

　“Let’s get the show on the road. I’m starving.”

　「ジャック、このすき焼、いつ作り始める？」

　「もう作り始めよう。腹減ったよ」

●Extra Point 　

　the show must go onという表現もよく使われる。これは「今さら後には引けない」という意味だ。

◎Extra Example

　“Oh, Jack, the electricity has gone off.”

　“No matter. I’ll cook the sukiyaki with a gas cylinder. The show must go on!”

　「ああ、ジャック、電気が切られてしまっているよ」

　「関係ない。ボンベを使ってすき焼を調理する。ここでやめられないよ！」
