　time and (time) againは「何度も（何度も）、繰り返し」。類義のtime after timeよりやや調子の強い言い方。

France, Germany and Italy had their own developed art market ecosystems at the time, though on a smaller scale than London. But the quality of restoration was abysmal everywhere. In 1883 the godfather of modern connoisseurship, Giovanni Morelli, walked through the galleries of Italian paintings in German museums, bemoaning time and again that they had been ‘subjected to barbarous restorations, so that … there is no possibility of recognising the hand of the master, or of distinguishing an original from a copy’.14 The painter James Barry made much the same observation in his Letter to the Dilettanti Society in 1799:
