TANGENT

　tangentは、数学で使われる「接線、接面」。しかし、この語は日常でもよく使われる。

○Practical Example

  "What should I do?"

　"Draw a circle.　And make a tangent that touches the circle but does not go inside it." 　

　「何をすればいいですか？」 　

　「円を描いて。それから、円に接する線を描きなさい。しかし、それを円のなかに入れないように」

●Extra Point

  go [fly] off at [on] a tangentで、「（人が）話題［考え、方針を］突然変える、急に脱線する」
