【原文】
假使興害意　推落大火坑　念彼観音力　火坑変成池

【読み】
けーしーこうがいいー　すいらくだいかーきょう　ねんぴーかんのんりき　かーきょうへんじょうちー
【通釈】
たとえ殺そうと思っている者に 大火の中に、突き落とされても かの観音の力を念じたなら 大火も変じて池となる
　
観音経の正式お名前は、「妙法蓮華経観世音菩薩普門品第二十五」という。観音信仰の基本経典。「妙法蓮華経」とは、有名な法華経のこと。法華経は二十八品（二十八章）からなり、観音経は（普門品）はそのうちの第二十五番目の章であるということ。その内容は、ひと言で言えば「観音様はどんな菩薩さまか」が説かれたもの。
