A LEAP OF FAITH, ETC.

　今この本というか、タロットのガイドブックを読んでいる。

　意外どころか、かなり勉強になる。

　以下のような英語があった。

Reversed: Are you feeling overwhelmed and unsure of which path to take? Reversed, The Hanged Man suggests indecision and delays. Don’t overthink things now, because there are forces influencing this situation that are out of your hands. Sometimes, you just have to surrender control, take a leap of faith, and let the cards fall where they will.

　逆位置：精神的に追い詰められていて、どちらに進んでいいかわからない？　「吊られた状態」の逆位置を引いた人は、自分はどうすべきか判断できず、ぐずぐずしている状態にあるかも。でも、状況を打破できる力が手に入るのはまだ先だから、とにかく今は考えすぎないこと。すべて成り行きに任せて、いよいよその時が来たら思い切ってやってみるのがいいかも。

　overwhelm(ed):　～を(精神的に)圧倒する、参らせる。「圧倒されて」ではよく意味がわからないのでやく訳出には工夫が必要だ。

　indecision and delays: 「優柔不断（ためらい）と遅延」ではまるで意味が通じないので、動詞に品詞転換するなどして処理するのがよい。

　a leap of faith: 不確かでも(思い切って)やってみること。‘These reforms are totally untested and will require a leap of faith on the part of teachers.’（一連の改革案は一度も試験していないので、教師はぶつけ本番で臨むことになる）

　let the cards fall where they will: let the chips fall where they mayを少しひねったいいかた。タロット・カードのガイドなので、chipsがcardsに変わっている。

　let the chips fall where they mayは「どんな結果になろうと 」。「ポーカーなどの賭け事でチップを出し終え手札を見せるときに、の意」（コンパスローズ英和辞典）

　この場合は試訳のようにtake a leap of faithと入れ替えて訳してもいいかも。
