INNOCENT

　innocentには中心的意味が二つある。一つは、「汚れのない、無邪気な、純真な」だ。

○Practical Example

　“Kathy is so innocent. She doesn’t realize that Yutaka is cheating on her.”

　“One day she’ll walk out on him, I swear.” 　

　「キャッシーはほんとにすれてないわね。豊がほかの女の子に手を出しているって、知らないのよ」　

　「いつかキャッシーは豊と縁を切るさ。間違いない」 　

　to cheat on…は、「（妻・夫・恋人）に隠れて浮気する、裏切る」。to walk out on…は、「……を（見）捨てる」

●Extra Point 　

　innocentは「無罪の、潔白な」という意味でもよく使われれる。

　“I am innocent of the crime. I just didn’t do it!”

　“But people on the train saw you standing next to the young woman.” 　

　「ぼくは無実です。それでもぼくはやってない！」　

　「しかし、車内にいた人たちは君があの若い女性の隣に立っていたのを見ている」
