TO REGARD SOMEONE AS

　よく使われる表現で、「（……を）（……だと）みなす、考える」。

○Practical Example 

　“I regard Yoko as a friend. But she’s trying to steal my sweetheart from me.” 

　“A friend? She pretends to be a friend and takes what she wants.” 　

　「ヨーコは友だちだと思っている。なのに、わたしの彼を取っちゃおうとしている」　

　「友だち？　あの女は友だちのふりをして、ほしいものはみんな取っちゃうのよ」 

●Extra Point 　

　「人」だけでなく、to regard something asと、「ある物を……と見なす、考える」という意味でもよく使われる。

◎Extra Example 

　“Why didn’t you phone the doctor back, Yoshio?” 

　“Because I regard the problem as unimportant. I’m fine. There’s nothing wrong with me.” 　　

　「ヨシオさん、お医者さんに折り返し電話すればよかったのに」　　

　「そんなに重症じゃないと思っているから。ぼくは大丈夫。どこも悪いところはない」
