SUBSEQUENT

　subsequentは、「その次の、続いて起こる」「あとの、その後の」。subsequentの中に、seqがあることに注目。seqは、the following（追いかける人、もの）を意味するラテン語で、sequence（連続、続発）などの語にも見られる。

　"The earthquake in Niigata was horrible." 

　"Yes. And the subsequent problems at the nuclear plant were also horrible." 　

　「新潟の地震はひどかったね」　

　「ええ、そのあと原子力発電所でも問題が発生したみたいだ。これもこわいね」 

●Extra Point 　

　副詞subsequently（その後、後に、 続いて）もよく使われる。

　"Did you have a nice time there, Keizo?"
