　notableは、「注目に値する、著しい、顕著な」。

　“Yeah, he may be a famous scholar, but he makes big mistakes all the time.” 　

　「スリラップ先生の論文には、大きな間違いがある」　

　「ああ、彼は有名な学者かもしれないが、いつも大きなミスをする」

　notableは、「有名な」の意味でも使われる。
