TO RECOUNT

　to recountは、主に二つの意味でよく使われる。一つは「再び数える、数え直す」。

○Practical Example

　“Well, Al, they’re going to recount the vote to see who won.”

　“It was very close, George, but I’m pretty sure I got more votes than you.” 　

　「アル、もう一度票を数え直せば、どっちが勝ったかわかるぜ」　

　「ジョージ、かなり接戦だった思うが、ぼくのほうが君よりたくさん票があったはずだ」

●Extra Point 　

　もう一つ、「詳しく話す」とか「物語る」の意味でもよく使われる。

◎Extra Example

　“My grandfather recounted to me what it was like in Japan after the war.”

　“You’re lucky, Reiko. My grandfather died in the war.”　

　「おじいちゃんが、戦後の日本はどうであったか、わたしに話してくれた」　

　「玲子、あなたはいいわね。わたしのおじいさんは戦死したのよ」
