GREENER PASTURES

greener pasturesは、直訳すれば、「より緑色の草原」。そこから、「新しい活動の場、新天地」の意味で使われる。

　seek[look for] greener pasturesの形で使われることが多い。

◯Practical Example

　"Some people prefer to live in a quiet place, such as the countryside. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place do you prefer to live?"

　"Just like other teenagers who are so ambitious, when I was young, I want to seek greener pastures in a big city to earn much money. But I have changed my mind from the time that I became a father and a husband. Now I want to live in countryside."

　「田舎のような静かな場所に住みたいという人もいれば、大都会に住みたい人もいる。君はどっちに住みたい？」

●Practical Point

　もう一例。「生活条件がよりよくそろっている場所、もっと条件のよい環境」の意味でも使われる。
