TO LINGER

　to lingerは、「ぐずぐずする、なかなか立ち去らない、（……にたっぷり）時間をかける」。　今日のGetUpEnglishでは、この表現を学習しよう。

○Practical Example

　"I lingered over some articles on the Web and was late for the meeting."

　"You must be punctual, okay?" 　

　「ネットで記事をいくつかチェックしてぐずぐずしていたら、会議に遅れてしまいました」　

　「時間に正確でないといけないよ」

●Extra Point

　brieflyなどと一緒に使われると、「少しだけ休む」「くずぐずしないで、すぐにその場を離れる」という意味になる。
