RESISTANT

　resistantは、動詞resist（抵抗する、反抗する）から来ている。「抵抗する、抵抗力がある」のほか、「抵抗性の（ある）」「耐性の（ある）」の意味で使われる。

　“This infection is drug resistant.”

　“That means that the drug won’t work on it.” 　

　「この感染体は、薬剤に抵抗性がある」　

　「ということは、それには薬が効かない、ということですね」

　resistantは、多くの状況で使われる。
