SPEAK TO....ABOUT

　speak to...は「～に話しかける」であるが、状況によっては、「…に忠告[注意]する (admonish), …をしかる (scold)」（研究社　新英和大辞典）の意味でも使われる。

　今日のGetUpEnglishはこの動詞のこの意味の使い方を学習する。

「各セミナーで参加者である経営者たちに、お子さんたちに自分の仕事について意見を求めたことはあるでしょうか、とたずねると、誰もがぽかんとした表情を浮かべる」

　the last time: 「最後の［に］」であるが、疑問文では「ほんとうに～したことあるのか」と訳すとしっくりすることがよくある。
